Privacy Policy

This policy explains what BrokerThreads ("we", "us") collects when you use broker-threads.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep collection deliberately minimal.

1. Information you provide

• Account: username, e-mail address and password you set during sign-up.
• Content: threads, comments, votes, reports, and any messages you send to us.
• Verification: any documents or attestations you provide during identity review.

2. Information collected automatically

• Technical: IP address, browser, device, referring URL, pages visited.
• Usage: filters used, threads opened, sort tabs used, search queries.
• Local storage: session token, your votes, your expanded-thread state and search preferences (kept on your device only).

3. How we use information

• To create and verify your account, including anti-fraud screening.
• To publish your threads and comments after editorial moderation.
• To respond to support requests and disputes.
• To detect and prevent fraud, spam, abuse and policy violations.
• To analyse aggregate traffic patterns to improve the site.

4. Sharing

We do not sell user data. We share limited information only with hosting and e-mail providers under written confidentiality terms, with regulators where required by law, or with successors in a corporate transaction (with prior notice).

Threads, comments and your username are public by design once they pass moderation.

5. Cookies and local storage

We use a minimal set:

• Session — to keep you logged in.
• Preferences — your votes, expanded threads, sort selection.
• Aggregate analytics — anonymised traffic counts.

You can clear all of this at any time from your browser settings.

6. Data retention

Account information is retained while your account is active and up to 24 months after deletion to comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes. Public threads remain published unless you request removal.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law you may access, correct, delete, port, or object to processing of your personal data. To exercise rights, e-mail privacy@broker-threads.com.

8. Security

We use TLS in transit, hashed credentials at rest, role-based access controls and routine security review. No system is perfectly secure — please use a unique strong password.

9. International transfers

Your data may be processed in jurisdictions other than where you reside. We use Standard Contractual Clauses where required.

10. Children

BrokerThreads is not directed at people under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

11. Changes

We will update this policy as needed and reflect changes in the "Last updated" date. Material changes are announced on the site or by e-mail.
